Duties include – Operate all press equipment related to printing. This includes commercial print or other related print products under the direction of the Pressroom Manager or Assistant Night Pressroom Manager.
Functions include – Setting of ink and water valves, plate up or press and removal of plates afterwards, compensation and registration, reel tending folder setting, margin control, and quality control through checking copies regularly and webbing up of newsprint through the press.
Clean and maintain all parts of the presses and control rooms including general press wipe ups, roller settings and changing if necessary, maintaining ink rails, change blankets and bleaching water systems when necessary.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Journeyman certificate in web offset printing; strong communication skills and the ability to work with other crew memebers to achieve high quality standards in our newspaper, core products, and commercial printing. Applicants must have certified journeyman status.
Hours of work: shifts vary from days to nights, with occasional middle shifts when necessary. Rotating days off.
