Join the Twenty-Fifth Annual Congress of Unifor Local 2000, which will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. via Zoom.

WHAT IS CONGRESS?
Congress is an annual meeting of member representatives, to bring forward and vote on resolutions to change the local’s by-laws, and to discuss all variety of issues affecting members within the local.  Each council sends its representatives, as chosen by the members of that council.

NUMBER OF DELEGATES
Here are the number of delegates still vacant for this year’s Congress. I urge you to consider attending as a delegate.  Have a say in your Union!
These are based on membership as of March 31, 2023

Pacific Newspaper Group                                5 delegate vacancies

Printing Industry                                               4 delegate vacancies
Bell Media                                                      3 delegate vacancies

All Executive Board members are automatic delegates to the Annual Congress in addition to the above numbers.

HOW TO BE NOMINATED
If you would like to attend Congress as a delegate, make it known, so that you can be nominated.
Delegates must be nominated, and then accept the nomination.
If there are more nominees than allowed delegates, then a vote is taken.

Nominations should be sent to your council chair or chair-designate as soon as possible.Contact emails are shown in the list of councils following. Council chairs are asked to have their delegates selected, and to forward their names to Bill Catterall by email to [email protected] and office support staff, [email protected].

ELECTIONS
The following positions are up for election at Congress:

President, three-year term, Jan. 1, 2024 to Dec. 31, 2026. This is a full time, paid position.

Vice-president, three-year term, Jan. 1, 2024 to Dec. 31, 2026.  This is an un-paid position.

Elections Committee, three-year term, ending Congress 2026.

Audit Committee, three-year term, ending Congress 2026.
