A $5-million injection from Investissement Québec could double employment at Montreal video game firm Hibernum Créations within two years, company president Frédérick Faubert said Tuesday.

Quebec Minister of the Economy and Innovation Jacques Daoust announced the grant at the Montreal International Game Summit, which has attracted approximately 2,200 participants from 15 countries for networking sessions.

Daoust told the Montreal Gazette that “it’s not an expense, it’s an investment. I insist on that because it’s a great deal.”

“We’re spending real money and they’re going to create real jobs.”

He declined to say what stake IQ received in Hibernum for the $5 million, except to say that “it’s far from a controlling stake.”
