Postmedia has signed a deal with Google that will see the tech giant pay to host the news network’s articles on its news platforms.
Postmedia, which publishes the National Post as well as daily and weekly newspapers and news sites around Canada, joins the ranks of other publishers that have signed deals with Google News Showcase, the company’s global content licensing program.
Andrew MacLeod, the president and CEO of Postmedia, said the company would not disclose the financial terms of its deal with Google.
MacLeod said Postmedia continues to support the Online News Act, Bill C-18, which would allow publishers to negotiate with tech giants for compensation. The Liberal government introduced the bill earlier this year.
