The Penticton Herald has an opening for a full-time Reporter. This position reports to the Managing Editor.
The successful applicant must: be an aggressive self-starter; be capable of generating good leads and following them through with flair; have a strong grasp of all areas of news and feature writing; have an interest in sports reporting; be able to produce photos with a digital camera that are of a quality fit for production; have own transportation and knowledge of the area.
Duties will include: writing local news stories and taking local photos; complete tasks as assigned by the editor; covering night and weekend shifts with varying hours each week and develop valuable contacts to help the newspaper provide a must-read mix of copy.
The ideal applicant will have graduated from a recognized journalism program. This is and excellent opportunity for a recent university/college graduate. Working knowledge of Quark Xpress and InDesign is an asset.
