Black Press is building for the future, and in doing so today announces the consolidation of the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News and the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows Times.
The consolidated operations of these two award-winning publications will provide readers with a greater breadth of coverage of community news and events, in print and online.
In addition to expanded local news content, the print platform will include a new regional lifestyle magazine that will be published on a quarterly basis and focus on the incredible diversity of the region, the mix of industry and businesses big and small, an array of artists and an abundance of lifestyles.
A decision of this scope does not come without much consideration, said Times publisher Lisa Farquharson.
“We view this as an important step in the evolution of community news media in the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows market. This is the merger of two very successful community newspapers and their resources into one operation” Farquharson said.
“Pitt Meadows-Maple Ridge is a unique market. We recognize that, and believe that by combining many of the resources of these two vibrant community newspapers, we will be better positioned to serve the needs of readers and advertisers alike,” she explained.
While the consolidation will bring with it some efficiencies, Farquharson quickly noted that these changes will see all affected staff provided with  opportunities within the Black Press Group Ltd. Lower Mainland and Digital Divisions.
