Video games play a critical role in the development and maintenance of boys’ friendships, according to a new report from Pew Research Center.

The study found that 36 percent of of all teens have made a friend through playing networked video games. Additionally, 52 percent of all teens were found to have spent time with friends playing video games and 13 percent played with friends daily.

The Pew report analyzed the role of teens, technology and friends with specific attention to video games, social media, and mobile phones.
