Hello Local 2000 members,
Unifor Local 2000 is committed to providing you with up-to-date union related information as the COVID-19 pandemic evolves.
On Monday, March 16, we reached out to all employers, asking for their policies and practices to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic. Many have already arranged for people to work from home. Click here to see President Brian Gibson’s letter to employers about what we expect during the crisis: PresidentLettertoEmployersCOVID19 16Mar20Final
On Tuesday, March 17, we emailed members with more information on union issues and COVID-19. If you did not receive this email, please contact [email protected], and I will ensure you are on our email list.
Please consult your shop steward, union contract and benefits package for site specific questions or details. (Shop stewards please contact Jennifer Moreau if you have questions.) In general, we are recommending a “work now/grieve later” approach, encouraging members to take good notes and contact their shop steward if they have any issues. However, when it comes to health, your safety is the most important thing. You have a right to refuse unsafe work (see FAQs below for details). Please contact your shop steward immediately if you feel unsafe.
