Canada’s largest private sector union has come out swinging against the firing of one of its members by CTV because of the controversy around an altered news clip that misrepresented Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
Asked for a response after two workers had been fired by CTV, Unifor president Lana Payne released a statement to the Star saying they are investigating the incident and will use all the tools they have to help the affected union member who has lost their job.
Payne also laid the blame for the incident at job cuts made at the broadcaster by parent company Bell Media and derided a negative attitude toward the media.
