Burnaby NOW/The Record • Reporter/Photographer (Maternity Leave)

The Burnaby Now and The Record’s consolidated newsroom has an opening for a full-time reporter/photographer for a maternity leave position.
The successful applicant will:
1)      Possess a strong news sense, be able to sift through daily spam and hone in on what will capture readers’ attention. Have a track record of providing top-quality work on a wide range of beats.
2)      Be a self-starter with keen attention to detail and dedication to getting the job done right and on time. Be results-oriented and able to reach goals.
3)      Be able to work well with others in a fast-paced, highly collaborative newsroom under competing deadlines in a climate of technological diversity.
4)      Understand the unique connection between community newspapers and their readers and have the ability and desire to develop community sources and expand our relationships in the communities we serve.
5)      Be able to paginate and have a basic knowledge of how to shoot and edit videos, and use Photoshop.
6)      Have demonstrated knowledge and experience with social media.
Applicants must have a vehicle and a valid B.C. driver’s licence.
