Cryptic-looking mathematical equations fill a whiteboard at the north end of the new DHX Media Ltd. digital animation studio in Halifax.

Hand-drawn pen-and-ink working sketches, some from popular DHX Media titles, cover a wall in the south end.

Just a couple of indicators that computing science and the creative arts are collaborating in a big way at this 17,000-square-foot space at the company’s new digs at Park Lane Terrace.

“The studio’s presence in the industry is growing and we required more space to fuel creativity and provide the required technology,” studio vice-president Phillip Stamp said during an advance tour Monday.

DHX officially opened its new space Tuesday. The company previously had about 115 staffers operating out of different locations around the city and is searching for another 45 digital animators.
