The Alberni Valley Times in Port Alberni, requires a Multimedia Journalist.
Must have experience handling a wide range of copy and photographs in a busy newsroom environment. Must be comfortable working on a deadline. A demonstrated ability with photography, page design and website updates are an asset, as is previous supervisory experience. Training will be available.
Duties include: working as a reporter/editor; handling copy and photographs; designing news pages and writing stories as required. You will play a role in determining content in news, sports and entertainment sections a well as designing and editing newspaper pages. Must contribute in a meaningful way to the newsroom discussion about readership strategy and the use of multiple platforms.
Qualifications: a journalism degree or equivalent experience; a proven track record as a reporter/editor and a demonstrated ability to use Photoshop and InDesign and meet tight deadlines.
This is a union position with Unifor Local 525G.
