These behind the scenes pictures showing the miniature sets used to film The Grand Budapest Hotel are an amazing insight into the lengths Wes Anderson goes to perfect his work.

The cult director is known for his eccentric films and The Grand Budapest Hotel, released earlier this year, was no different. Set in the fictional Republic of Zubrowka between the first and second World Wars, the film tells the story of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at the hotel, and, of course, Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

I don’t know about you, but I love the effect of these miniature sets when the movie hits the big screen. Much more so than over-the-top CGI effects.
