Who: CEP members and their children pursuing full time post-secondary education at a recognized institution such as university, college, CEGEP, technical or other schools are eligible.
What: Twelve scholarships worth $2,000 each are awarded across Canada. Winners are chosen based on writing as essay of 1,500 to 2,000 words on the topic: “What the labour movement means to me.”
Where: Application forms are available at the Local 2000 office or can be downloaded at the CEP National websit (www.cep.ca). Forms must be signed by a Local 2000 officer and sent to Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (Scholarships), 301 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, ON K1P 6M6.
When: 2011 application deadline is April 15.
Why: Local 2000 members and their children have been very successful over the years in winning these scholarships.
