Three Vancouver Sun and The Province journalists are finalists for the Jack Webster Awards this year.

Gordon Hoekstra is nominated for best print/digital news reporting for his story on the B.C. trucking industry and why there have been several strikes on overpasses and bridges since 2021.

Lori Culbert earned a nomination for best investigative and enterprise journalism for her stories on the overdose death of University of Victoria student Sidney McIntyre-Starko in a dorm.

Glenda Luymes is nominated in the legal journalism category for her work tracing how a B.C. man racked up 21 impaired driving convictions — believed to be a Canadian record.

The winners will be announced at the 38th annual Jack Webster Awards on Oct. 28 in Vancouver.
